In its first year of competition, Saint Cecilia School captured first place in the Philadelphia Reading Olympics on May 11 at LaSalle University in Olney Hall.  Under the direction of Mrs. Martha Wagner, Ms. Ursula Begley, Ms. Danielle Wenzel, and Mrs. Janet McHugh, fourteen students from grades 4 through 6 represented Saint Cecilia School at this competition.  These students are:  John Clark, Kaylee Fitzkee, Aidan McHugh, Amelia Pizzica, Joseph Barrett, Abigail Bernesky, Anne Klepesky, Cole Welsh, Genevieve Baldomero, Emily Lubbe, Paige, Montijo, Alexandra Morgenstern, Diane Nguyen, and Elizabeth Quedenfeld.

The goal of this competition is to increase students’ reading for enjoyment.  Over the past year students collaborated with others students from their grade to read twenty books that had been selected by a committee of reading specialists, librarians, and classroom teachers.  Congratulations!
